Why Train With Us?

A Proven Track Record

St Clere's and East Tilbury Primary have led high quality teacher training for over 15 years and all our schools have an excellent track record of working with training graduates to gain QTS.

There are 17 schools in the partnership, including many with outstanding or good features and managed by Thurrock Teacher Training.  The unique blended learning programme combines the best of school-based training, online learning materials, a network of experienced subject specialists to deliver pedagogy and subject knowledge and several off-site visits to special schools, primary schools and Leading Teacher days.

Each school provides a fully trained mentor for each trainee and is supported by a Pathway Tutor from Tes Institute who visits every half-term to monitor progress. This route has provided consistent employment for trainees within the Thurrock Partnership on completion of their training.  In 2023/24, all of the trainees had secured employment before the end of the course and the majority were employed in the schools where they were trained in.

Successful applicants can choose to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE which costs a little more in fees.

What People Are Saying

Quality Training and Quality Recruits

Having worked as a professional mentor with over a dozen different ITT providers, I can confidently say that TTT stands out from the rest. Partly because it is led by brilliant people who still teach and so who understand every aspect of the role of a teacher. You will be mentored by supportive colleagues who will help you to develop and fulfil your potential. There is a genuine care about the welfare of trainees - paperwork and targets never get in the way of the focus on people. A very high percentage of trainees end up working in the schools where they trained - because they feel happy there and because the schools know the quality of the teachers they are recruiting.

Supportive, Understanding and Encouraging

My time with Thurrock Teacher Training has been nothing short of amazing. From the very start, the team there have been so supportive, understanding and encouraging.

The guidance and reassurance I have received have been invaluable for me, and I couldn’t have made it through this journey without them and the mentors they pick. The people running the programme go above and beyond for their trainees, and I’ll always be grateful for the help and belief they showed in me on my path to becoming a teacher.

Well Prepared and Confident to Start

Throughout my teacher training year with Thurrock ITT, I received excellent support. The teachers were always ready to help and give advice as well as members of Tes Institute.

They guided me through challenges and provided valuable feedback to improve my teaching skills that have shaped me to the teacher I am today. Being part of a supportive community of fellow trainees made the experience even better.

I felt well-prepared and confident to start my teaching career after completing the program. Thurrock ITT really cares about their trainees and ensures they have everything they need to succeed in teaching

Supported and Challenged

I gained my QTS with Thurrock Teacher Training last year and I felt really supported and challenged in my placement. My mentor was outstanding and I felt I could go to them for anything. The programme fully supports the journey to ECT year 1.
